Smartphone Photography Talks and presentations

In person and virtual talks - the power of conscious observation

Conscious Observation - Actively choosing to witness surroundings rather than passively seeing them.

Jet has delivered inspiring presentations to over 200 organisations and audiences worldwide, and now introduces her latest keynote: The Power of Conscious Observation.

Inspired by consistent feedback that the smartphone photography workshops offered “more than just photography,” Jet uncovered a powerful connection between creative observation and everyday life. Her new talk brings this insight to the stage, showing audiences how the way we see the world shapes how we experience it.

In this engaging and thought-provoking session, Jet explores the importance of slowing down and becoming fully present. From noticing light reflecting on a window to acknowledging the subtle changes in the people around us, she demonstrates how conscious observation can transform perspective, enhance connection, and reset the mind.

The Power of Conscious Observation invites audiences to reconnect with both the small details and the bigger picture—equipping them with a practical, mindful approach to navigating work and life with greater clarity and awareness.

In-person presentations can be as interactive as you would like them to be, and can cover keynote, breakout, or activity roles.

"Photography is an art of observation... finding something interesting in an ordinary place."

If you are running a retreat, a Smartphone Photography masterclass is a great activity to offer, especially as no additional equipment is needed, just your delegates own smartphone.

No wifi is needed and if you are worried that your guests may be tempted to check their emails or social media while doing the activity, the camera works perfectly well while the phone is on ‘airplane’ mode.

Sessions can incorporate mindfulness, work alongside a creative brief, or be a stand alone activity. Location isn’t a problem as we are happy to travel and, if necessary, stay on site and capture the event for your own marketing purposes.

We are a regular facilitator at Skyros Holidays, Greece, where we run creative smartphone photography sessions for the guests.

JBS Community Workshops CIC

JBS Community Workshops CIC has been set up so we can apply for grants to enable us to run community based workshops, workshops in disadvantaged areas, sign language sessions, and low level mental health safaris (referred by Social Prescribers). This goes back to the Jet Black Squares ethos that ‘Photography should be available to everyone’, regardless of people’s background.

We also run many in-person events for community days, as well as sessions for the Cubs, Scouts, Guides (great for the photography badge), Young Mariners, etc.

If your club or event isn’t listed here, please do drop us an email and we would be very happy to talk to you.
